Exciting day today. We met with staff from the Selby College who are keen for students to be involved with the project, in particular design of a website, and photography and graphics design. We are keen to involve the “younger generation” with the project, and not only share local history, but also provide opportunities to learn new skills. The idea was that a group of students would work on the development of a website as a “proper client”. We now have to go away and draw-up a brief for the website for the students to follow. We look forward to meeting the students further down the track.

We came away very buoyant, as we had struggled to engage our local education establishments – we appreciate they have a national curriculum to deliver, but hoped our project would fit-in with local history elements.

We will continue to try and engage not only local students, but also possibly guides and scouts.
