Oral history is the recording of people\u2019s memories, experiences, and opinions . It is a living history of everyone\u2019s unique life experience. It is an opportunity for those people who have been \u201chidden from history\u201d to have their voice heard. It will be a rare chance to talk about and record history face to face.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kath, Linda, Jan and Shirley went along to Pocklington Arts Centre, courtesy of the Canal &amp; River Trust to do some training on \u201cLiving Memories\u201d. The Pocklington Canal Project is also part of a Heritage Lottery Fund project.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It was a good interactive day \u2013 yes we had to do some work. We also listened to recordings of people to give us a flavour and feel of what oral history can achieve, and how we should use the recordings (or not in some cases!). We also learnt about the \u201clegal\u201d aspects relating to copyright, how to store and some indicators of the equipment to purchase.
