A big list of archives had been pre-ordered and awaited us on our arrival. A \u00a310 fee for a photograph permit for the day was well spent. A break for lunch, saw us wandering around the building trying to find the caf\u00e9 \u2013 up to the top (the view over Beverley Minster was beautiful), and then back down two floors \u2013 we eventually found the caf\u00e9. Shirley got a little excited and was told to \u201cshush\u201d by the staff. We came away with lots of photos of documents for future reference and use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We had looked at Electoral Rolls, papers relating to the manor (thank goodness Jan had undertaken a Latin course!), papers relating to the building of the railways; papers relating to the windmill, Osgodby Pains, and much more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">We asked to look at the Register of Deeds, and it was politely explained that we had to limit the Registers we wanted to look at \u2013 when they arrived \u2013 large bulky books \u2013 we understood!
