We are delighted to welcome back local historian David Lewis.

 David is a Cawood based local historian who has lived next to the B1222 road for the last 30 years.

Being fascinated by minutiae, he decided to find out just why the road had that number and letter. In the course of his research, he found that the road did not only touch on rhubarb, royalty and the rings of Saturn but a whole lot more including a cold-war nuclear bunker, Britain’s first 100 mph stretch of rail and the site of the first England to Paris air shuttle.
